The D-48 gun is a rather rare example of soviet weaponry. Only 819 units were produced at plants No. 9 in Yekaterinburg and No. 75 in Yurga, some of which were supplied to the “countries of people's democracy”. In 2015, some of the D-48 guns were taken from the storageand used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to the“passport characteristics”, the D-48 is an anti-tank gun that is guaranteed to hit armored targets at a distance of up to 1000 meters and to can fire high-explosive shells at a distance of up to 19 km.

There are two niches for the D-48 usage in modern warfare: either to shoot at light russian armored vehicles or infantry fighting vehicles, or to use it as a light field gun for firing from indirect fire positions.
