On August the 23, the university held ceremonial events to mark the next anniversary of the State Flag Day and the Independence Day of Ukraine. The celebration was opened by raising of the State Flag of Ukraine, which is a symbol of the historical spirit and an eternally living memory of the heroic past and no less heroic present.

Nothing is more invigorating in the morning than the "Roll-Call!" command signal. Nothing shapes a warrior more than initial military training. Currently, the second stage is being attended by first-year cadets - new students of the educational and scientific institute of physical culture, sports and health technologies of the NDU. Discipline, daily routine and basic military skills - all this will be experienced by the new recruits at fullstrength during the next month. Ahead of them are classes in tactics, firearms, reconnaissance, engineering training and military topography.

This week the officers of the L-3 course have been studying the military leadership development in its historical overview. They also had a chance to familiarize with military leadership development and its peculiarities in Scandinavia from WWII until present time. The classes were held by Lieutenant Colonel (retired) Frank Jeppesen – an experienced instructor of the Armed Forces of Denmark, within the framework of the advisory support to the defense reform in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Recently, practical classes on diving training were held with graduates of the Reserve Officers Military Training Department on the basis of the Desna Land Forces Training Center. It should be noted that this element was included in the curriculum for the first time.

On August 11, the Building Integrity (BI) training was held for students of the National Defence University of Ukraine named after Ivan Cherniakhovskyi who are currently being trained at the course for operational level (L-3) joint staffs officers. The BI training was organized by the Building Integrity Training and Education Centre (BITEC), NDU in the framework of educational activities of NATO Building Integrity Program with the assistance and partnership support of the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom and the Centre for Integrity in the Defence Sector, Norway (CIDS).

In the period from August 4 to September 1, 2020, the UK experts provide a five-day seminar for representatives of the Ukrainian ministries and departments as part of the implementation of measures to build a crisis response system in the country, in accordance with the National Security and Defence Council decisions.

During several days the officers Army tactical level command and staff course (L-2) were learning the fundamentals of strategic communications. The NDUU Strategic Communications Centre faculty taught them in media role, public affairs, democratic civilian control, and civil military cooperation.

Within the framework of the NATO DEEP (Defence Education Enhancement Program) from 28 to 30 July 2020, the representatives of National Defence University of Ukraine named after Ivan Cherniakhovskyi (hereinafter NDUU), Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi National Army Academy, armed forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the NATO DEEP Program participated in the online meeting on development the advanced distributed learning system of the armed forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The students of the Naval Forces and Air Forces groups of the Command-and-Staff Course for tactical level visited the Bohdan and Varvara Khanenko National Museum of Arts in the framework of the module «Military Leadership» (L2). The Bohdan and Varvara Khanenko National Museum contains the largest collection of foreign art in Ukraine.
