November 20, 2020, the 3rd International Scientific and Practical Conference on the Challenges of ADL Implementation in the Educational Process of Higher Military Educational Institutions and Possible Ways of their Solution organized by the National Defense University of Ukraine named after Ivan Cherniakhovskyi with the support of the Ministry of Defense of the Kingdom of Norway was held.
The conference was opened by the Deputy Commander in Scientific Affairs of the National Defenсe University of Ukraine named after Ivan Cherniakhovskyi Honored Worker of Education of Ukraine, Candidate of Military Sciences, Professor Major General Pavlo Shchypansky.
Representatives of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, higher military educational institutions, higher educational institutions of other security agencies and higher educational institutions of Ukraine, leading world and national scientists took part in the Conference.
Representatives of NATO member countries and Partner countries, Norwegian Ministry of Defense, Norwegian Defenсe University College, Jefferson Institute (USA), NATO Allied Command Transformation, ADL Initiative (USA) NATO Defence Education Enhancement Program (DEEP), ADL Working Group of the Partnership for Peace Consortium NATO School Oberammergau, NATO Defense College, Military academy “General Mihailo Apostolski” (Republic of North Macedonia), Carol I National Defence University of Romania took an active part in the Conference.
Representatives of higher military and other security agencies educational institutions, higher educational institutions of Ukraine such as the National Defence University of Ukraine named after Ivan Cherniakhovskyi, National Academy of the Security Service of Ukraine, Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics, Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, Military Institute of Tank Troops of National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute”, V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University participated in the Conference.
A total of 231 participants from 16 countries (Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Estonia, Georgia, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Republic of North Macedonia, Romania, Tunisia, Ukraine, USA) and NATO representatives took part in the conference.
Participants of the Conference exchanged experience of implementing ADL into the educational process of higher military educational institutions (military educational subdivision of higher educational institutions) and other security agencies of higher educational institutions and institutions of higher education of Ukraine. The ways of improving the ADL implementation mechanism in the educational process were identified during the Conference.
Deputy Commander in Scientific Affairs of the National Defenсe University of Ukraine named after Ivan Cherniakhovskyi Pavlo Schypanskyi was highlighted that the significance of the Conference that it takes place at an important moment for Ukraine, as the Armed Forces of Ukraine are at the stage of defence reform, part of which is military education reform.
The chief of the Scientific ADL Centre of the National Defence University of Ukraine named after Ivan Cherniakhovskyi Lieutenant Colonel Maksym Tyshchenko familiarized the participants with the prospects for the development of the ADL system.
The program of the conference included thematic panel discussions on:
Practical experience and lessons learned in the organization of the educational process during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Practical experience and lessons learned in organizing and conducting online conferences.
Major General Pavlo Schypanskyi thanked the participants of the conference and expressed a hope for the further development of cooperation between the university and partners in the future.
In the opinion of the online conference participants, such a common international event is an important element in the implementation of distance learning technologies in the training of military specialists based on the best practices of NATO member countries and partner countries.
