Planning and conducting operations in accordance with NATO standards is one of the most important components of the Multinational Staff officers’ course, which is currently holding at the Ivan Chernyakhovsky National Defense University of Ukraine.

From the March the 1st and to the April the 9th, students are to improve the theoretical knowledge and acquire practical skills in knowledge of NATO policies, as well as in duties and responsibilities of multinational staff officer. These skills and knowledge are vital to prepare students for effective work on the staff positions at operational and tactical level headquarters, including participation in multinational military exercises and operations.

All classes are conducted in English by instructors of the Multinational Staff Officers Training and Research Centre and other departments of NDU. Likewise, NATO countries advisors take part in the course as a mentors and instructors. Thursday 4th of March the Danish Military Advisor and Defence Attaché Captain (N) Felix Ebbestad took part at the course as a guest speaker. He shared a personal knowledge of a staff work in the Danish Defense Command and described the personal experience of Afghanistan deployment tour. The lecture was very much appreciated, and there was a good dialog between the students and the Attaché.

Participation of foreign instructors and daily communication in English form the students’ ability to work in the multinational environment. Furthermore, these knowledge and skills gained during the course are to be verified and consolidated during JCATS Simulation Exercise to be conducted in the university simulation center.
