From 10th to 14th February, 2020, the delegation of the National Defense University of Ukraine named after Ivan Cherniakhovskyi visited the Norwegian Defense University Collage (Oslo, Kingdom of Norway).
The purpose of the visit was to acquaint the parties with the main directions of activities of the Norwegian Defense University Collage and the National Defense University of Ukraine named after Ivan Cherniakhovskyi in order to identify possible ways of further cooperation.
The management of the Norwegian Defense University Collage was informed about the perspective system of military education and directions of its development in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and in the National Defense University of Ukraine named after Ivan Cherniakhovskyi. The pilot educational projects were presented as: leadership courses and prospective master's program, new training programs on strategic communications, defense management, gender policy. The directions of scientific research are highlighted.
During the visit, the delegation's representatives were able to get acquainted with the structure and tasks of the leading higher military educational institution of the Kingdom of Norway and priority issues for the improvement of education and science.
As part of the practical implementation of cooperation with CIDS (Center for Integrity in the Defence Sector) to promote the implementation of principles of integrity education and exchange of experience and best practices, a joint project on integrity building and corruption prevention was discussed for persons performing the functions of integrity education and prevention of corruption Headquarters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and Bodies of the Military Directorate of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (residential, mobile and online course).
This will introduce a substantial and sustainable integrity building policy, and will promote integrity and zero tolerance for corruption in the security and defense sectors.
Within the framework of the visit the delegation also visited the Army War College and the NCO School, which are part of the Norwegian Defense University Collage.
According to the results of the meeting, possible directions for further cooperation of the leading higher educational establishments of Ukraine and the Kingdom of Norway were identified, such as: conducting research in the areas of common interest, studying the issues of strategic communications and civil-military cooperation, building integrity in the field of security and defense, implementation of gender principles in the Armed Forces, development of the ADL System of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, participation of Norwegian trainees in the annual international command and staff training at the University.
