The ICRC representatives conducted the classes on compliance with the norms of International Humanitarian Law

The special training course for brigade commanding and staff officers of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine continues at the University. The visit of Representatives of the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) to the Simulation Center has occurred during this course. The main goal of the visit was to provide the consultations to the brigade officers on issues of the International Humanitarian Law norms during combat operations.

The ICRC delegates provided the presentations to brigade officers on the ICRC mandate, activities of the organization in Ukraine and the Joint Forces Operation area in the East of Ukraine. Brigade officers were informed on the basic principles of the International Humanitarian Law and the peculiarities of its implementation during combat operations.

The ICRC representatives answered the questions of Brigade officers and provided literature on the activities of the ICRC and the International Humanitarian Law.

Also during the visit there was the meeting of ICRC delegates with the Deputy Chief of the Academic Affairs University, Major-General Serhii SALKUTSAN, during which they discussed the directions of further cooperation and the prospects of establishing a distance course on studying the norms of International Humanitarian Law and their application in military conflicts.
