The International Scientific and Practical Conference within joint Ukrainian-Norwegian research project “Ukraine and Total Defence” completed at the National Defence University of Ukraine named after Ivan Cherniakhovskyi.

At the end of the event, on November 18, 2021, participants of the conference – researchers of the Norwegian Defence University College, in the Hall of Remembrance of Defenders of Ukraine at the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, took part in a daily morning ceremony honoring Ukrainian defenders who died for freedom, independence and territorial integrity of their state and during international peacekeeping and security operations.

Foreign guests laid flowers at the memorial stele and observed a minute of silence in honor of the fallen Ukrainian Heroes.

Eternal memory to the Heroes who died in the battles for our freedom and independent Ukraine!

Information. The Hall of Remembrance of the Defenders of Ukraine was created to honor the memory of militaries who died for the freedom, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine. It is specially located so that both militaries, employees of the Ministry of Defence and the General Staff, and ordinary citizens can enter the Hall and pay tribute to their defenders.

Near the building of the Hall of Remembrance there is a square for ceremonial events and a Memorial sign with fragments of combat projectiles with the Bell of Remembrance. The daily funeral ritual is performed by ringing a bell, depending on the number of dead on that day.

In the middle of the Hall of Remembrance, on special podiums, there are Books of Remembrance with the names of the dead. The structure of the book is built on the principle of the calendar: one page – one day, which mentions all those who died on this day for all years.
