Participation of the University Representatives in the 9th Annual Advanced Distributed Learning NORDEFCO Conference

During April 27-29, 2021 representatives of the National Defence University of Ukraine named after Ivan Cherniakhovskyi participated in the 9th Annual Advanced Distributed Learning NORDEFCO Conference. The main areas of interest are sharing of learning content and lessons learned in the field of procurement, development, implementation and evaluation of technology-based learning concepts.

Maksym Tyshchenko, Chief of the Scientific Advanced Distributed Learning Centre, and Viktoriia Krykun, Senior Researcher from the Language Testing & Research Centre of the Foreign Languages Education & Research Centre made the presentations during the Conference.

Maksym Tyshchenko and Biljana Presnall (Vice President, Jefferson Institute, USA) discussed the possibilities of distance learning technologies implementation into the exercises. Participants exchanged views on the benefits of using ADL technologies in different kind of exercises, such as: better learning outcomes, higher learning efficiency gained through the access to learning materials, and enhanced reporting opportunities provided by the improved learning analysis and visualization.

Viktoriia Krykun presented the scientific project “Computer Adaptive Language Testing (CAMT)” in accordance with NATO STANAG 6001 as well as revealed the advantages and prospects for further its development. The participants of the conference exchanged ideas on the use of modern digital technologies to improve the CALT software in order to conduct next piloting session in May-June 2021, which will be held at the Language Testing & Research Centre of the Foreign Languages Education & Research Centre.

The main focus was on practical aspects of using modern information technologies in the process of military specialists’ education and training in PME institutions to implement this experience in the educational process of higher education institutions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
