Conducting of a command post exercise based on the use of JCATS combat simulation tool with listeners of the Course “An Officer of a Multinational Headquarter”

In accordance with the plan of the main events of the National Defense University of Ukraine named after Ivan Chernyakhovsky, training of the military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was conducted in March 2018 at the Education and Research Center for International Peacekeeping of the University as a practical part of the Course “An Officer of a Multinational Headquarter.”

The aim of the course is to study NATO operational planning process, functional responsibilities of staff sections in planning of peacekeeping and security operations, and preparation for participation in multinational staff exercises.

An integral part of the course is the Simulation Exercise (SIMEX) conducted based on the use of the JCATS simulation tool in the Simulation Center of the University, in which students improve their theoretical knowledge in practice. It allows students developing practical skills of the staff officer of the multinational brigade on different staff positions during the planning of operations (combat and other actions) and the management of subordinate units in accordance with NATO standards.
