A training Seminar for faculty members of foreign language on organizing and conducting a short-term training for the Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel

On September 30, 2021 a two-day training Seminar for faculty members of foreign language departments of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ higher military educational institutions (HMEIs) on organizing and conducting a short-term training for the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) personnel, assigned as part-time language training instructors, completed at the Foreign Languages Department in the National Defence University of Ukraine named after Ivan Cherniakhovskyi (NDU).

During the event, the head of Foreign Languages Department of NDU and the teachers, who had previously designed and successfully conducted a five-day training course on the basics of organization and methods of teaching English to military instructors, shared the relevant practical experience and teaching materials with colleagues from other HMEIs, provided guidelines and advice on conducting similar courses for language training instructors in the future at the HMEIs represented.

The event was attended by 15 faculty members from 8 UAF HMEIs. It is expected that by the end of this year, the event participants will manage to have delivered regionally, at their respective educational institutions, the specialized training on the organization and methods of teaching English for 150 UAF personnel, selected by military authorities to perform the duties of language instructors in their duty stations. The servicemen who will have received training in such courses will be able to start English language classes in the system of personnel training in their respective military units, organizations and institutions in due time – from January 2022.

This will be another step towards achieving UAF interoperability with the armed forces of NATO and Partner countries.
