L-3 Joint Operations Staff Officers Logistics Course has been conducted in English

From 17 to 21 May 2021, as part of the training module “Logistics Fundamentals”, officers of the L-3 Joint Operations Staff Officers Logistics course was conducted in English.

With the assistance of the NATO Liaison Office in Ukraine, NATO Strategic Logistics Advisers Colonel of the Armed Forces of the Check Republic  Jan Husak  (OF-5 (GS), JAN HUSAK PhD) and Colonel of the Armed Forces of Poland  Zbigniew Lenarchyk (OF-5, Zbigniew LENARCZYK, PhD) took part in the preparation and conduct of the training.  The involvement of foreign advisers from NATO with a high qualification level and practical experience in the field of logistics provided the students with an opportunity to gain knowledge and experience in a multinational environment, as well as to improve the level of professional English.

During the course, students discussed in detail the issues of logistics in operations based on NATO documents.

University professors with relevant knowledge in the field of logistics, military service experience in command and staff positions at both operational and strategic levels, as well as combat experience in JFO / ATO operations and international NATO/ UN peace support operations worldwide were involved in educational process.

In the module, students learned about NATO's general logistics principles, functions and policies, doctrinal documents, multinational logistics standards and interoperability issues. In addition, the concept and structure of NATO rapid reaction forces and their tasks in operations, the structure and tasks of the Combined Joint Task Force and its logistics, the organization of the movement of troops (forces) and their movement in expeditionary operations, issues of medical support, support of troops through the conclusion of contracts and relevant aspects of funding were considered.

The main attention was focused on the specifics and procedure of the logistics planning process at various levels of management in accordance with the NATO Comprehensive Operational Planning Directive, the strategic deployment of troops in multinational operations, medical support, and the organizational structure and tasks of the Joint Logistics Support Group at the theatre of operations, etc. During the training, practical training of officers according to the scenario of a combined operation as part of coalition forces was conducted.

The university constantly practices joint teaching of military instructors of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who have modern practical experience of participation in operations, in particular coalition, and foreign instructors with appropriate qualification. It allows to implement best practices and approaches used in NATO member countries in professional military education, which is a priority for the university.
