04.03.2021

1 March 2021 FLERC started a new PD course for English teachers of MOD and Defence and Security Sector of Ukraine (PDCELT) based on the ICELT Programme of Cambridge University. ICELT-Ukraine Course was started in 2005 by Peacekeeping English Project of the British Council and run by native speakers and successfully continues by the trainers of the Department of foreign languages of NDU after the PEP had finished its work.  The ICELT-Ukraine course trained about 80 teachers from all over Ukraine, who received the certificates of both the NDU and the Cambridge University. Unfortunately the Cambridge University decided to close the ICELT project worldwide from 2020.

Ukrainian trainers have developed the programme of the new PD Course (PDCELT), which uses the benefits of the ICELT Syllabus and is based on the best traditions of the Cambridge University. The Course was piloted in 2020 and proved to be efficient and effective even in circumstances of Covid-19 quarantine measures.

The mission of the PDCELT is to provide an option of a highly qualified professional development for English teachers in order to build capacity for the consistent English language training of civil and military personnel  in the Security and Defence Sectorof Ukraine.
