The Norwegian Defence University College delivered a course of video lectures on the topic: “Human security and role of militaries” to the National Defence University of Ukraine

Scientific and educational cooperation between the Norwegian Defence University College and the National Defence University of Ukraine named after Ivan Chernyakhovskyi has acquired a new meaning and continues to develop dynamically.

On January 29, 2021 as part of a joint scientific and education project under an agreement reached during an online meeting on December 9, 2020 between the Command of the Norwegian Defence University College and the National Defence University of Ukraine named after Ivan Chernyakhovskyi, the Norwegian Defence University College transferred to the National University of Defence of Ukraine named after Ivan Chernyakhovskyi a course of video lectures for use in educational and scientific activities. The course is developed by experts from the Nordic Defence International Centre (NODEFIC) and the ADL Section on “Human security and the role of militaries”.

Considering the Russian-Ukrainian armed conflict that has been going on for the seventh year in Eastern Ukraine, the security of the civilian population in the conflict zone remains an extremely important and relevant problem that requires new approaches to resolve it.

The topic of the video lectures is of considerable practical interest for the training of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Therefore, the work has already begun on the most effective use of the course in the educational process of the University at strategic and operational levels, in the course of training officers to participate in Joint Forces Operation, as well as in international peacekeeping and security operations.

Currently, the issue of the National Defence University of Ukraine named after Ivan Chernyakhovskyi participation in the pilot project on the issues of human security using virtual reality technologies, is also being considered.

Researchers from the National Defence University of Ukraine named after Ivan Chernyakhovskyi also joined the examination of the video lectures materials. They are conducting research on the protection of civilians in armed conflicts and will share the results with Norwegian colleagues as part of a joint project.

Undoubtedly, the course of video lectures provided by the Norwegian Defence University College will help to improve the training of the Armed Forces of Ukraine personnel in performing the assigned tasks and acquiring new knowledge on human security in armed conflicts and the role of the servicemen in this matter.
