V International Scientific and Practical Conference: "Application of space and geographic information systems in the interests of national security and defense"

On December 16, 2021, the National Defence University of Ukraine named after Ivan Cherniakhovskyi hosted the V International Scientific and Practical Conference "Application of Space and Geographic Information Systems in the Interests of National Security and Defense" together with Esri Ukraine.

The purpose of the conference was to discuss the problematic issues of the use of space and geographic information systems in the interests of national security and national defense and to develop recommendations on how to solve them.

The conference was attended by more than 300 representatives from 52 institutions of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, LLC "Esri Ukraine", LLC "ECOMM Co", foreign leading experts on the use of space and geographic information systems in the interests of security and defense, as well as representatives of scientific institutions Ukraine, higher education institutions of Ukraine, representatives of other ministries and departments.

Based on the results of the conference, it was decided that at the current stage of development of the security and defense sector of Ukraine:

intensification of the use of geographic information systems through the introduction of modern specialized software products in the management systems of the security and defense sector of Ukraine with the provision of training the required number of highly qualified specialists;

introduction of fundamentally new approaches to the use of information from space systems to ensure the functioning of the security and defense sector of Ukraine.

Based on the materials of the most informative reports of the conference, scientific articles will be published in the professional scientific and practical journal of the National Defence University of Ukraine named after Ivan Cherniakhovskyi "Modern information technologies in security and defense" and scientific and technical electronic publication LLC "ECOMM Co" "Arc GIS" magazine ”.
