On the basis of the National University of Defenсe of Ukraine named after Ivan Chernyakhovskyi, two different level groups of the Armed Forces of Ukraine officers, in particular from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, have been trained in the English language course.  The project was launched with the assistance of the US Embassy in Ukraine Defence Cooperation Department.

Acting Deputy Assistant to the United States Ambassador to Ukraine Joseph Pennington and the head of the US Embassy's Defense Cooperation Division in Colonel Robert Peters have arrived at the ceremony to welcome the graduates of the course.

The course for the officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were organized for the first time in this format. Teaching was conducted by instructors from the mobile training group of the Military Institute of Foreign Languages (ALCPT) - Ms. Heather Katuria and Mrs. Mary Crocko.

‒ Increasing the number of officers with knowledge of English enhances interoperability between Ukraine and the United States, as well as between Ukraine and our other NATO partners.  These new abilities will help further your military careers, enrich your personal interactions, and also make you eligible for other U.S. military education assistance programs, ‒ said Joseph Pennington, Acting Deputy Assistant to the United States Ambassador to Ukraine.

The aim of the training was to reach the level of proficiency in the language, which is estimated at 55 points and above, according to the ALCPT test.  This provided officers with the opportunity to further receive special training within the framework of the US IMET program.
