The Course “Military Leadership” was held for future officers of the Ground Forces

In order to develop military education and to deepen an inter-institutional cooperation in accordance with Program NATO DEEP-Ukraine within the period from December, 16 to December, 21 2019, professionals of the National Defence University of Ukraine named after Ivan Cherniakhovskyi held the course “Military leadership” with cadets of HetmanPetroSahaidachnyiNationalArmyAcademy. Future professionals of combat employment of mechanized and tank troops, missile troops and artillery units and moral and psychological support were participants of this course.

The actual problems of military leadership in the context of modern transformational process were discussed during the course. The moral and ethical basics of transformational leadership from the point of view of utilitarian and deontological ethical theories were considered. Recommendations concerning providing efficient managerial communication, development of ability and readiness critical thinking by military officers, usage of scientific approaches of organizational behavior analysis in military units were defined.

Cadets had the opportunity to check theoretical clauses during solution of problem tasks of professional direction working on cases in the small groups. They demonstrated ability to present results of their own work, argue and defend their point of view.

The outcome of cooperation became a presentation of the project “My Way to Military Leadership” by cadets. Different points on professional growth proposed by cadets showed the importance of this issue, different ways of personal development of military leader, high moral and intellectual potential of future officers.

The course helped to form a common views on becoming a military leader on all levels of officer’s training.
