The Educational and Scientific Institute of Military History, Law, and Social Sciences is a structural unit of the National Defense University of Ukraine. By its mandate, the Institute trains operational-level military specialists for the military-historical structures of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, educators for higher military education institutions with a master's degree, as well as specialists in the fields of “Law Enforcement Organization in the Armed Forces” and “Legal Support for Military Units (Forces).”
The institute's academic and teaching staff participate in the training of specialists at both the strategic and operational levels across all fields of study at the university, participants in professional military education and advanced training courses, as well as in the preparation of research and academic personnel – including PhD candidates and doctoral researchers.
The organization and delivery of educational activities at the institute are carried out through the comprehensive implementation of teaching, methodological, scientific (including research and technical), organizational, educational, and other work by academic and research staff in order to fulfill the mandate for training military specialists in accordance with higher education standards.
The main tasks of the institute:
- carrying out educational activities that enable officers to obtain higher education at the master's level in specified specialties and specializations for the Armed Forces and other components of the Defense Forces of Ukraine;
- conducting scientific, scientific-technical, and innovative activities through research, fostering the creative activity of participants in the educational process, training highly qualified academic and research personnel, and applying the obtained results in the educational process;
- development of the personality through a system of organizational, informational, moral-psychological, pedagogical, legal, cultural-educational, and military-social measures aimed at fostering professionally essential and leadership qualities in participants of the educational process, which will ensure high combat and mobilization readiness of military specialists; moral values based on Ukrainian national and civic identity, and a commitment to lifelong self-development and self-education.
Structurally, the institute consists of five departments, a research center, an academic division, and two courses of full-time and part-time study.
