General Information

The Department of Infrastructure and Transport Support is a structural subdivision of the Institute of Logistics and Support of Troops (Forces) and is subordinated to the Institute Chief and his deputy.

The Department Structure:

  • Chief of the Department;
  • faculty.

In fulfilling its assigned tasks, the department organizes interactions, as required, with the structural units of the National Defence University of Ukraine, units of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and components of Ukraine's security and defence sector, particularly in the areas of infrastructure and transport support.

Department Tasks:

  • training of highly qualified military specialists at the second (master's) level of higher education for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations established in accordance with the laws of Ukraine, in the field of knowledge 25 “Military Sciences, National Security, Security of the State Border”, in the specialty 254 “Support of Troops (Forces)” and 256 “National Security (in certain spheres of security and activities)”
  • training of scientific and academic staff of the highest category (Doctor of Science, Doctor of Philosophy) at the third (educational and scientific) level of higher education for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations established in accordance with the laws of Ukraine, in the field of knowledge 25 “Military Sciences, National Security, Security of the State Border” in the specialty 254 “Support of Troops (Forces)”;
  • training of students of retraining and advanced training courses on the combat use of military logistics units in operations (combat operations);
  • participation in conducting professional military education courses for officers of operational (L-3) and strategic levels (L-4,5);
  • conducting other educational activities, including training of military personnel in the field of infrastructure and transport support;
  • conducting research, scientific-technical and innovative activities;
  • development of the regulatory and logistical base to ensure educational activities;
  • ensuring the cultural and spiritual development of individuals and educating personnel in the spirit of patriotism and respect for the Constitution of Ukraine.

The Department carries out the following functions in line with its assigned tasks:

  • conducts educational, methodical, scientific, scientific-technical and innovative activities;
  • provides conditions for obtaining full higher education for military specialists from the structural units of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and other executive authorities involved in performing tasks related to national security and defense during peacetime and special periods;
  • improves the content of students' training by taking into account changes in the structure of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the nature and conditions of the tasks assigned to them, the experience gained from international operations aimed at maintaining peace and security, as well as local wars and armed conflicts, including in the structures of the logistics management bodies of the Armed Forces of Ukraine , order of organization of infrastructural and transport support to the Armed Forces of Ukraine;
  • ensures the improvement of the qualifications and professional levels of academic staff;
  • conducts researches on current issues related to the development of fundamental principles in the theory of infrastructural and transport support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine;
  • instills in students the qualities of a commander-leader, drawing on the best traditions of the Ukrainian army, the Ukrainian Cossacks, and the officers of previous generations, as well as the cultural heritage of the Ukrainian people. It emphasizes high patriotism and devotion to military service, while also ensuring their physical, cultural, and spiritual development;
  • introduces into the educational process the results of scientific research on issues of infrastructural and transport support for the actions of troops (forces), innovative methods of training military specialists for the Armed Forces of Ukraine;
  • implements the standards and procedures of military decision-making (MDMP, OPP) of NATO into the educational process;
  • teaches planning of infrastructural and transport support of military units (units) in battle (combat operations, operations, during movement) according to NATO's standardized operational procedures;
  • organizes and supervises training classes;
  • provides individual training for academic staff (officers of the permanent staff);
  • participates in organizing and conducting educational, methodological, and operational meetings for management staff and academic personnel;
  • implements measures to maintain the department's material and technical resources at a high standard while continuously enhancing them;
  • ensures the implementation of measures to prevent and combat corruption;
  • participates in the development and conducts examinations of draft laws of Ukraine, presidential decrees, resolutions of the Cabinet of Ministers, international treaties, and orders from the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine that fall within the department's jurisdiction;
  • ensures, within its authority, the implementation of measures to transition the University to operate effectively during a special period;
  • conducts activities related to the protection of state secrets, develops documentation for transitioning the department to operate under special conditions, and implements relevant measures within the Institute;
  • analyzes the state of the educational process within its competence and develops proposals for its improvement;
  • provides consultative and practical assistance to the chiefs of the University's structural units in addressing issues within their scope of responsibility;
  • prepares informational, reference and analytical materials;
  • performs other functions as assigned.

Scientific potential of the Department:

Four academic staff members in the Department are Doctor’s of Philosophy, and one military officer has the academic title of Senior Researcher.

Academic staff of the Department participate in training studying of PhD students for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Academic staff of the Department take part in the implementation of scientific research works on issues of infrastructural and transport support.

The academic staff of the Department actively participates in international events, specifically:

  • involved in the course on the study of the Russian-Ukrainian war experience at higher military educational institutions in Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, and Japan, covering the following topics: “International Technical Assistance to Ukraine” and “The influence of logistics on the conduct of the russian-Ukrainian war”;
  • participates in the course on operational planning processes in Poland;
  • participate in international scientific seminars and conferences on logistics in Poland, Norway and Sweden;
  • took part in the scientific seminar on the development of educational programs at the Royal Logistic Corps (Winchester, UK);
  • participated in the training on using the ADAMS, CORSOM, EVE training modules for experienced users of the NATO LOGFAS special software on the basis of the Logistics Training Center in Poland.
