History of creation and development of the department
The Department of Geospatial Support and Application of Space Systems is a structural subdivision of the Institute of Logistics and support of troops (forces) of the National Defense University of Ukraine.
The history of the department begins in October 2000.
The date of the "birth" of the department is considered to be the date of the Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on the establishment of the faculty of training specialists of the operational-tactical level of the Air Force in the National Defense Academy of Ukraine. According to the order of the First Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine dated 04.10.2000 No. 164, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Colonel Mashkov Oleg Albertovych was appointed as the first head of the Department of "Combat Aviation Support". Colonel Mashkov O.A. retired from military service in the reserve in 2003.
Since 2003, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Honored Inventor of Ukraine, laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine, Colonel Serhiy Viktorovych Kozelkov , who headed the Department of "Combat Aviation Support and Application of Space Systems" until his dismissal from the armed forces in 2004, has been appointed head of the department.
Since 2004, the duties of the head of the department have been performed by Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Colonel Barabash Oleg Volodymyrovych.
In 2007, Colonel Serhiy Oleksandrovich Tyshchuk , candidate of technical sciences, associate professor, who headed the department until 2008, was appointed to the position of head of the Department of Space Systems Applications.
Doctor of technical sciences, professor laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in the field of science and technology, honored worker of science and technology of Ukraine, colonel Danyk Yuriy Hryhorovych headed the department "Application of space systems" from 2008 to 2010.
From 2010 to 2011, the training of specialists in the specialization "Organization of military-space systems" was carried out by the department "Application of high-tech systems", which was headed by candidate of technical sciences, associate professor Colonel Pribylev Yuriy Borisovych.
After the unification of the three departments in 2011, the department of application of information technologies, high-tech systems and geo-information support was headed by candidate of technical sciences, associate professor, Colonel Chornoknizhnyi Oleksandr Anatoliyovych.
In 2012, after regular organizational and staffing measures and the creation of a department with a modern name, Colonel Yuriy Borisovych Pribylev , who headed the department until he entered the doctoral program in 2014, was again appointed as the head of the "Application of Space Systems and Geoinformation Support" department.
From 2014 to the present, the department is headed by candidate of technical sciences, associate professor Colonel Varlamov Ihor Davidovych.
Structure
The Department of Geospatial Support and Application of Space Systems includes:
- head of the department;
- scientific and pedagogical workers;
- educational laboratory.
The main tasks assigned to the department are:
- carrying out educational and methodological activities in the process of training trainees in the specialty "Support of troops (forces)", in the specializations: "Organization of military and space systems", "Organization of topogodetic and navigational support of troops (forces)", and carrying out training of trainees of higher academic courses, officers of the joint headquarters L -3, officers of the senior management staff L -4, retraining and advanced training courses;
- implementation of scientific, scientific research and scientific and technical activities in the field of application of space systems, topogodetic and navigation support, use of geoinformation systems in the interests of troops (forces);
- creation (improvement) of the legal framework for the field of activity.
The department, in accordance with the tasks assigned to it, performs the following functions:
- participates in the development of professional standards in the field of training;
- develops programs, work programs of educational disciplines, structural and logical schemes for the disciplines of the department and coordinates them with other departments;
- conducts all types of classes provided by the curricula;
- develops materials for testing students in the department's disciplines;
- participates in educational work with students;
- prepares for publication textbooks, teaching aids, teaching and methodical materials, methodical materials for the disciplines of the department;
- conducts scientific, scientific and technical activities in accordance with the approved plans, participates in the implementation of their results in the troops, the educational process of the department, manages the scientific work of students;
- examines and discusses at department meetings issues related to improving the structure of programs, work programs of educational disciplines, methods of conducting and increasing the effectiveness of educational activities, improving the educational material and technical base, training scientific and pedagogical personnel and improving the qualifications of the personnel of the department, conducting scientific and scientific and technical activities, results of monitoring classes, work plans of the department, developed lectures and other educational and methodological materials that are being developed, reports on scientific (research) works;
- studies, summarizes and disseminates the work experience of the best teachers and provides assistance to novice teachers in mastering pedagogical skills;
- prepares scientific and pedagogical personnel;
- examines dissertations submitted for defense by members of the department or other candidates or adjuncts (doctoral students);
- supervises master's theses, term papers, as well as students' independent work;
- takes measures to prevent and counter corruption;
- participates in the development and reviews draft laws of Ukraine, acts of the President of Ukraine and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, international treaties, orders of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine;
- conducts activities related to the protection of state secrets, develops documents regarding the transfer of the department to functioning in the conditions of a special period and carries out appropriate measures within the university;
- prepares informational, reference and analytical materials;
- provides consultative and practical assistance to the heads of structural units of the university in solving issues that belong to its competence;
- processes appeals and requests for information from citizens of Ukraine, deputies of all levels, as well as persons who are legally present on the territory of Ukraine.
- performs other functions as assigned.
The main achievements and the most important achievements
4 textbooks, 16 study guides and 2 monographs were developed and published.
Six international scientific and practical conferences "Application of space and geo-information systems in the interests of national security and defense" were held.
Three doctors of science and seventeen candidates of science (doctors of philosophy) were trained.
In 2021, the professor of the department became a laureate of the Boris Paton National Prize of Ukraine.
27 scientific research works were performed.
Scientific potential
Currently, the department is taught by a doctor of science and five candidates of science.
