The Command and Staff Institute of the Troops (Forces) employment is a separate structural unit of the National Defence University of Ukraine and reports to the head of the university.

The Command and Staff Institute of the Troops (Forces) employment is intended for the training of military specialists to obtain a Master’s degree and qualification "Master of Military Administration (by branches of armed forces)", operational level officer" and "Master of Troop (Force) Support, operational level officer” in the branch of science 25 “Military sciences, national security, state border security” with the educational and qualification level “master” for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other uniformed agencies of the state in accordance with the purpose, state requirements, society, of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and requirements for the system of knowledge, abilities, skills, outlook, public, professional qualities of future specialists, which are formed in the educational process with the prospects for the development of science, technology and military art.

The main objectives of the institute:

• organization and implementation of educational performances in the branch of science 25 "Military sciences, national security, state border security" with educational qualification level "master" for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other state uniformed agencies. Education of military specialists to obtain a Master’s degree and qualification "Master of Military Administration (by branches of armed forces, other military formations formed in accordance with the laws of Ukraine)", operational level officer" and "Master of troops (forces) support, operational level officer";
• fulfilment of hi-rank state application and agreements for the training of operational-level military specialists;
• education of scientific and scientific-pedagogical personnel (Doctor of Science, Doctor of Philosophy) for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other uniformed agencies;
• implementation of scientific, scientific-technical and innovative activities;
• creation (enhancement) of the regulatory and legal base, development of the material and technical base to provide educational performances;
• providing for cultural and spiritual development of the individual, education of personnel in accordance with the spirit of patriotism and respect for the Constitution of Ukraine.

The institute provides training in 11 specializations:

8. Employment of military units of the Naval Forces.
9. Naval Forces armament and material employment organization.
