The Department of Personnel Management and Training of Troops (Forces) is a structural unit of the Command and Staff Institute of Troops (Forces) Employment of the National Defence University of Ukraine.

The Department of Personnel Management and Training of Troops (Forces) is intended to carry out educational, scientific, technical and innovative activities in the interests of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other components of the State Defence Forces.

The main tasks of the Department:

• training of higher education students according to the relevant educational programs: at the first (bachelor's), second (master's), third (educational and scientific) levels of higher education;
• training of trainees of the course of officers of the operational level (L-3) and the course of senior management of the strategic level (L-4) and a course on top-level strategic management and public policy (L-5);
• training of students of defense management courses, upgrading the qualifications of the personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the State Special Transport Service according to the levels of military education, upgrading the qualifications of scientific-pedagogical and scientific workers, upgrading the qualifications (additional training, retraining) of military servicemen under the contract of private and sergeant (senior) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine;
• implementation into the educational process of new educational programs aimed at forming a new style of military leadership, integrity, increasing the level of practical training of trainees and their readiness for professional activity, taking into account the needs of integration into NATO and own experience of preparing and conducting military operations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other components of the sector security and defense;
• the introduction of the latest technologies and training methods into the educational process, taking into account the experience gained in training the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the conditions of full-scale armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, NATO standards and advanced methods of training the armed forces of NATO member states;
• scientific and methodological support for the organization and implementation of the educational process;
• improving the methodological skill of the management staff, scientific-pedagogical and scientific workers of the department;
• securement the applied orientation of scientific research, remote and team work in accordance with the real needs of the troops (forces), taking into account measures of training and use of the troops (forces) during the execution of combat (special) tasks, prospects for the development of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the dynamics of changes in the political and military-strategic circumstances;
• increasing the effectiveness of scientific research taking into account the experience of military actions, ensuring the efficiency of implementing their results into the activities of the troops (forces) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other components of the defense forces;
• providing of tight cooperation with military and civilian mass media in the interests of informing the public about the life of the department, holding advertising events and promotions aimed at increasing the prestige of the military profession, forming the image of the officer corps and defender of Ukraine in society

• education of students of higher education in loyalty to the Ukrainian people, loyalty to the Military Oath and the Battle Flag, conscious implementation of the provisions of the Constitution of Ukraine, Laws of Ukraine, requirements of the Statutes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Decrees of the President of Ukraine, Resolutions of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, orders of commanders (supervisors).

Structure of the Department:

• chief of the Department;
• deputy chief of the Department;
• scientific and pedagogical staff;
• scientific research laboratory of problems of troop (force) training and personnel management;
• educational laboratory.

The Department trains and graduates higher education specialists of the operational level in the specialty – 254 "Provision of troops (forces)", specialization "Personnel management in the troops (forces)" for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other components of the State Defence Forces.
