The Department of Naval Forces

The Department of Naval Forces is a fundamental structural unit of the National Defence University of Ukraine and is part of the Command and Staff Institute of Troops (Forces) Employment.

The Department of Naval Forces conducts educational activities in order to train university students in the development, training and use of the Naval Forces, as well as carries out scientific and scientific and technical activities to support the educational process, develop naval science as a component of military science and,to scientifically substantiate decisions made in the state in the maritime (naval) industry.

The main tasks of the department:

In the conditions of Russia's armed aggression, the main tasks of the department are:
• continuous analysis of the experience of naval forces application, development of relevant recommendations, provision to the command and implementation in the training of students;
• training of highly educated specialists, future commanders and chiefs, capable of making informed decisions and effectively managing forces (troops) in the course of hostilities, defeating the enemy in conditions of hybrid actions;
• training of military specialists ofthe Master's Degree educational qualification level at the operational and tactical level in the speciality "Military Management (by types of armed forces)" in specialisations:
  • "Combat application and command of military units of the Naval Forces";
  • "Organisation of combat use and operation of armament and military equipment of the Naval Forces";
• training of military specialists of the strategic and operational levels of training in specifiedspecialities and specialisations for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, other military formations and law enforcement agencies of the state on the issues of forces (troops) application of the Naval Forces in peacetime, combat actions and operations;
• training of the military personnel and civil servants at Higher Academic Courses and retraining and advanced training courses for the application of forces (troops) of the Naval Forces;
• participation in the training of foreign military specialists;
• participation in training of doctors of science and doctors of philosophy in the doctoral and adjunct studies at the university;
• conducting scientific research in the field of development, training and application of the Naval Forces, implementation of research results in the educational activities of the department;
• development (improvement) and scientific support for the implementation of military standards for the training and application of forces (troops) of the Naval Forces;
• participation in the preparation and conduct of measures on the formation and implementation of state policy in the maritime sector and in the field of national security and defence of the state in maritime areas;
• fostering a sense of patriotism, leadership qualities, and responsibility for the execution of assigned tasks.

The structure of the department:

• scientific and teaching staff of the department;
• a research laboratory on thedevelopment, training and application issues of the Naval Forces;
• educational laboratory.

The department provides training and graduates higher education specialists in 2 specialisations:

• Speciality - 253 "Military Management (by types of armed forces)".
• Specialisations:
  1. Combat application and command of military units of the Naval Forces;
  2. Organisation of combat application and operation of armaments and military equipment of the Naval Forces.
