Scientific Activity
To ensure Ukraine's defence capability at sea, repel armed aggression of the Russian Federation and deter enemy actions from the sea, to enhance the effectiveness of the application of forces (troops) of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and implement NATO standards, the personnel of the department together with specialists of the Naval Forces Command of the Armed Forces and other agencies have prepared:
- The Maritime Doctrine of Ukraine for the period up to 2035, approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated December 18, 2018, No. 1108;
- Proposals to the Action Plan for the Implementation of the Maritime Doctrine of Ukraine for the period up to 2035;
- The draft Maritime Security Strategy of Ukraine, approved by the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine in February 2022;
- The Doctrine of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, approved by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on January19, 2021;
- The Strategy of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine 2035, approved by the Commander of the Ukrainian Navy in November 2018.
In 2023, following were developed and provided:
- Recommendations for the Use of Unmanned Naval Strike Surface Complexes (Command of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine);
- Recommendations for the Preparation and Conduct of Naval Operations for the Doctrine of “Joint Operations” (Central Research Institute of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In order to test the developed documents and recommendations, the Department annually holds the International Scientific Forum "Maritime Strategy of the State. Development and Implementation of the Maritime Potential of Ukraine", which involves leading specialists, foreign and domestic experts, representatives of state and military authorities.
In the period from 2019 to 2023, the department completed 8 research works commissioned by the Command of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the issues of:
- the deployment of heterogeneous forces (troops) of the Naval Forces in the Sea of Azov;
- training and deployment of forces (troops) of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in modern conditions;
- the use of missile boats by the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine;
- equipment of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with maritime robotic systems (complexes);
- deployment of forces (troops) of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in cooperation with NATO Allied Forces;
- operational and tactical requirements for a multi-purpose marine robotic complex;
- preparation and conduct of naval operations in the conditions of hybrid enemy actions and martial law;
- execution of the tasks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine regarding theprotectionofthe state border of Ukraine in underwater space.
In 2019-2023, more than 50 operational tasks were completed as co-executors, four International Scientific Forums and 12 scientific and practical conferences (seminars, round tables) were organised and held.
In 2023, the department provided training for 2 adjuncts.
