The Educational and Scientific Institute of Physical Culture and Sports and Health Technologies is an independent structural unit of the National Defence University of Ukraine.

The institute is headed by Colonel Petrachkov Oleksandr Valeriiovych, Ph.D., associate professor, master of sports of Ukraine in rugby.

The main tasks of the institute are:

• participation in the training of military specialists of the operational-strategic and operational-tactical level of education with the qualification level - "master", for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other state military units and the organization of physical training at the university;
• training specialists in the tactical level of education in the specialty "Physical Culture and Sport" for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, other military formations formed in accordance with the laws of Ukraine, law enforcement agencies, rescue and other special services;
• retraining and advanced training of specialists of physical training;
• implementation of scientific, technical and innovation activities;
• the creation (improvement) of the regulatory framework, the development of educational and material base for the provision of educational activities;
• conducting vocational training courses on the preparation of divers of 5th category I-II (class 3 diver), advanced training and professional level on the preparation of 6th category I-II divers (2nd class diver), advanced training and professional courses on the preparation of divers of 7th category I-II divers (class 1 diver);
• ensuring the cultural and spiritual development of the personality, educating personnel in the spirit of patriotism and respect for the Constitution of Ukraine.

The institute includes:

• institute command;
• training part;
• Department of Physical Education, Special Physical Training and Sports;
• Department of Theory, Methods and Organization of Physical Training and Sports;
• research center (problems of physical education, special physical training and sports);
• training complex;
• courses for students;
• cadets courses.
