The Library of the National Defence University of Ukraine is a major scholarly resource part of the University, which provides the documentary-information resources support to educational and research programs of the university.

The main goal of the library is:

development, creation, preservation and organization of the use of world-known information resources as well as the ones developed at the University.

In July 2018 the Head of the Library is Svitlana EFIMCHENKO.

The current librarian staff is 14 workers.

All library's large holdings (now, they are about 234 volumes) meet the educational and scientific needs of the military students, PhDs, academics, postgraduates and undergraduates.

The Collection of library publications is servicing over 12,000 users nowadays and comprises coursebooks, reference books, manuals, training materials, monographs, materials of conferences and workshops, thesises of scietnific research works, etc.

The library's history begins in 1914. It was a complex of the Second Kyiv Military School and Mykolayiv Artillery School buildings. The library was opened at this area.

The library has 3 circulating sections , 1 reading room and the storage of topographical maps.

The Electronic Catalogue of Books, with more than 59 000 records of documents and the E-Fund documents, containing more аbout 8 000 full-text publications accelerates the search from the database.

For the operational use of information resources of the library ste staff organizes on permanenr base:

  • constantly working exhibition;
  • thematic exhibitions on topical issues;
  • the exhibition of the Jubilee and memorable;
  • the exhibition on the order of teaching staff and during University events.

The library offers its users a wide range of services:

  • complex library-information services;
  • providing information;
  • information and bibliographic support needs of scientists in the performance of research works and research;
  • a themed selection of literature;
  • the opening of the subscription and delivery of documents on interlibrary loan (ILL);
  • indexing documents on universal employee decimal (UED);
  • learning the basics of library-bibliographic literacy.

Work library is aimed at:

  • achieving a high level library and bibliographic services;
  • further implementation of electronic technology;
  • increase user audience;
  • expanding the Repertoire of services to users;
  • search for new, modern forms of interaction with users.
