76-mm mountain gun, modelof the 1958 (M-99) was developed by SCB-172 in Perm under the leadership of Tsirulnikov. The M-99 prototype battery passed factory tests in December 1954 and, after finishing, was transferred to military tests on April 21, 1955.

It was officially adopted in 1958 under the name “76-mm GP mountain gun”. At that time, a new indexing of guns was introduced to the Main Artillery Directorate, and the M-99 received the index 2A2.

The cannon can be disassembled into 10 packs.

Horizontal wedge shutter with semi-automatic spring type. The rollback brake is hydraulic, spindle type, with a spring compressor. The wheels are monoclinic with a tire GK 5.00-16.

PHP or PHP-70 gun sight. Charging is separate and cartridge-type.
