The BTR-MD “Rakushka” is a russian amphibious armored personnel carrier designed by the Volgograd Tractor Plant’s design bureau.

It was created based on the BMD-4 airborne combat vehicle. The vehicle's hull is made of welded armored plates and has a crew and troop compartment located in the front and middle sections of the hull. There are special niches above the tracks. The engine and transmission compartment is located in the rear of the vehicle, with a hatch for the crew's emergency exit located in the stern section of the compartment. The driver's seat is located in the front of the vehicle, with two seats for members of the airborne troops installed on either side. There are three hatches on the roof for exiting the vehicle, located above the driver's and airborne troops’ seats.

On the left side of the vehicle's hull, there is a turret with a commander-gunner's seat installed in the vehicle's hull under the turret. The turret is equipped with an external power supply system and a mechanism for vertical guidance. In the middle of the vehicle's hull, there are two-seater seats for airborne troops, with three seats on each side. In addition, there are brackets on the sides for carrying stretchers with the wounded.

The vehicle's dimensions and weight ensure its transportability by air and its ability to quickly overcome water obstacles.

According to open sources, at least seven captured trophy vehicles have been reported during Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
