MiG-23BN, 32-24B A further modification of the fighter-bomber with the R-29B-300 engine and the Sokol-23N targeting and navigation system. Developed in 1973, it was mass-produced until 1985. Serial production of the new fighter was carried out at Moscow Plant No. 30 Znamya Truda (nowadays, the production complex of Production Complex PK No. 2 of the Russian Aircraft Manufacturing Company MiG) and Irkutsk Aviation Plant No. 39 (now a branch of Irkut Corporation).

The modernization of the aircraft was necessitated by the need to further improve the onboard electronic equipment and weapons, as well as to improve the maneuvering characteristics of the aircraft. The modernization was aimed at eliminating numerous deficiencies in flight performance, improving operational parameters, and expanding combat capabilities.
