The Language Testing Research Centre is a structural unit of the Foreign Languages Education and Research Centre of the National Defence University of Ukraine. The Centre conducts scientific researches in priority areas of educational and methodological support for language training and language testing in accordance with STANAG 6001, aiming to obtain scientific and applied results and to provide scientific support for their implementation in the interests of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and other components of the security and defence sector. The other area of the Centre responsibility is the development of the language tests in accordance with the NATO STANAG 6001 for the requirements of Ukraine’s security and defence sector.
Assigned Tasks:
- conducting scientific research and carrying out other types of scientific researches for educational and methodological support of language training and language testing IAW STANAG 6001 in the security and defence sector of Ukraine;
- conducting scientific and practical conferences (seminars), developing scientific papers, and producing other types of scientific output;
- planning and coordination of inventive and rationalization activities;
- planning and coordination of the editorial and publishing activities;
- development and administration of language testing IAW NATO STANAG 6001;
- dissemination of scientific knowledge;
- scientific support for the implementation of results obtained from research into the practical activities of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and other components of the security and defence sector of Ukraine;
- performing internal control functions.
Professional Development
The Language Testing Research Centre provides professional development in language IAW NATO STANAG 6001 for research and academic staff of military educational institutions, servicemen, security and defence sector personnel, and civil servants.
International Cooperation
The Language Testing Research Centre closely cooperates with the NATO Bureau for International Language Co-Ordination (BILC) in the field of language testing IAW NATO STANAG 6001. Continuous exchange of experience is carried out through participation in BILC events, professional development of the centre’s staff, as well as conducting seminars, trainings, and language test items moderation.
