Oleksandr DATSENKO
The Department of Military History of Ukraine (Department) was established on September 1, 2023 as a structural subdivision of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Military History of the National Defence University of Ukraine (NDUU).
The Department consists of:
- scientific and pedagogical staff;
- educational and laboratory complex staff.
Аt the Department work 6 candidates of sciences, among whom 2 have the scientific title “Associate Professor”.
The main tasks of the Department are:
- participation in the training of military specialists of all levels of training in specified specialties and specializations for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, other military formations of the state, participation in raising the levels of military education and qualifications of servicemen, employees and civil servants of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine and the Armed Forces of Ukraine;
- training of highly qualified scientific and scientific-pedagogical staff - doctors of philosophy and doctors of science for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations;
- scientific support of the educational process at the university, conducting scientific military-historical research in the following scientific directions: military history, military history of Ukraine;
- development and publication of textbooks, study guides and other educational and methodological materials on the academic disciplines of the Department, scientific support of the educational process at the university in the military-historical direction;
- participation in the creation (improvement) of the legal and educational material and technical base to ensure educational activities;
- participation in the development and examination of projects of legislative and other regulatory legal acts in the direction of the Department's activity;
- ensuring the cultural and spiritual development of the individual, the formation of listeners' understanding of the Ukrainian national identity and the civilizational choice of Ukraine, the education of personnel in the spirit of patriotism and respect for the Constitution of Ukraine;
- improvement of the educational and material base of the Department.
Scientific and pedagogical staff of the Department take part in training:
- students specializing in “Strategic leadership in the security and defence sector”;
- students of courses of senior management at the strategic level L-4 in the specialty “National Security” (in separate spheres of support and types of activities);
- cadets specializing in “Physical education and sports in the Armed Forces”.
Specialists of the educational and laboratory complex of the Department actively work on popularizing the military history of Ukraine, covering the stages of the heroic struggle for freedom and independence of Ukraine.
For the attention of cadets, students and guests of NDUU, as part of the exhibition projects, the expositions “Steel Canvases”, “Block-post of memory”, “History of NDUU” are presented, including a number of unique installations and works of art that immortalize the events of the modern russian-Ukrainian war.
The Department develops scientific and professional cooperation with fellow historians, representatives of scientific institutions and organizations of Ukraine.
