The Research Department of the Application of Aviation and Air Defense is a structural subdivision of the institute and is designed to carry out scientific research on current problems related to the development of military strategy and operational art, forms and methods of training (generation), application and logistical support of the Air Force in force operations defense, prospective directions of Air Force development, development and improvement of weapons and military equipment of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The research department includes:

• head of the research department;
• deputy head of the research department;
• leading and senior researchers.

The main tasks of the department are:

• implementation of scientific, scientific-technical and innovative activities;
• conducting scientific research on the basic provisions of the theory of the application of aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, radio engineering and special forces, as well as their logistical support;
• introduction into the educational process of the results of scientific research on issues of military security and defense of the state, combat experience of the use of the Air Force in the Russian-Ukrainian war, innovative technologies for training military specialists for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
