The Department of Economics and Financial Support is a structural unit of the Institute of Logistics and Support of Troops (Forces) of the National Defense University of Ukraine and trains officers with higher education in the field of knowledge K Security and Defense, specialty K6 Providing Troops (Forces) with the educational program Economics and Financial Support of Troops (Forces).

The department consists of the department management, scientific and pedagogical staff and an educational laboratory. The defined structure allows for educational, methodological and scientific activities.

Economic and Financial Management Department has a history of leadership changes over time:

  • 2005-2010: Head of the Economic and Financial Support Department of the National Defence Academy of Ukraine, Colonel Volodymyr SHEMAYEV, Doctor of Military Sciences, Professor.
  • 2010-2011: Head of the Economic and Financial Support Department of the Operational Support and Logistic Institute of the National Defence Academy of Ukraine, Colonel Volodymyr MIRNENKO, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Senior Researcher;
  • 2011-2019: Head of the Economics and Financial Support Department of the Operational Support and Logistics Institute of the Ivan Chernyakhovsky National Defence University of Ukraine, Colonel Ivan TKACH, Doctor of Economics, Professor;
  • 2019 to present - Head of the Economics and Financial Support Department of the Logistics and Support of Troops (Forces) Institute of the National Defence University of Ukraine, Colonel Yulia Lutsyk, PhD in Economics, Associate Professor.

The main tasks of the department:

Training military specialists of the second (master's) level of higher education for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations formed in accordance with the laws of Ukraine, in the field of knowledge K Security and Defense specialty K6 Providing troops (forces) with the educational program Economics and financial support of troops (forces).

Participation in the training of military specialists of the second (master's) level of higher education for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations formed in accordance with the laws of Ukraine, in all specialties and specializations of university training.

Training of scientific and scientific-pedagogical personnel of the highest category (Doctor of Philosophy) of the third (educational-scientific) level of higher education for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations formed in accordance with the laws of Ukraine, in the field of knowledge K Security and Defense, specialty K6 Provision of troops (forces)

Professional military education courses include

  • Operational-Level Joint Staff Officers Course (L-3),
  • Senior Leadership Course at the Strategic Level (L-4),
  • Advanced Strategic Management and Public Policy Course (L-5).

Advanced training courses for military personnel and employees of the Armed Forces of Ukraine cover topics such as: Organization of financial support for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Internal control, Internal audit, Economics and management of military equipment and property development, production, operation, maintenance, and disposal.

Representatives of the department engage in academic publishing, including contributions to internationally recognized scientometric databases such as SCOPUS and the Web of Science Core Collection, as well as participation in scientific conferences and seminars at both national and international levels.

On a permanent basis, the department annually organizes the scientific and practical online seminar “Current Issues of the National Economy in the Interests of Defense and State Security and Ways to Address Them”. This seminar involves representatives from the structural units of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, military command bodies, higher military educational institutions, civilian higher education institutions, public organizations, research institutions, as well as academic and research-pedagogical staff of the university.
