Department of unmanned and robotic systems

General information

The Department of Unmanned and Robotic Systems is a structural unit of the Institute of Logistics and Support of Troops (Forces) and is subordinate to the head of the institute and his deputies.

To the department includes:

• Head of Department;
• scientific and pedagogical workers.

In the process of fulfilling the tasks assigned to it, the department organizes interaction in the established manner with structural units of the National Defense University of Ukraine, units of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and components of the security and defense sector of Ukraine in the field of unmanned and robotic systems.

The main tasks of the department are

conducting educational activities that ensure the training of military personnel, employees of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, officials of other components of the security and defence sector, and civil servants;

organizes and conducts educational activities to train officers to obtain the second (master's) level of higher education for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other components of the security and defense forces of Ukraine in the field of knowledge K “Security and Defense," in the specialty K5 “Military Management (by types of armed forces)," according to the educational program “Combat Use, Control and Support of Unmanned Systems” to obtain the professional qualification “ Professional in Organizing Combat Use, Control and Support of Unmanned Systems, Operational Level Officer”;

participates in the training of officers with the acquisition of the third (educational and scientific) level of higher education in the field of knowledge K “Security and Defence”;

participates in the training of highly qualified military specialists of the second (master's) level of higher education for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other components of the security and defence forces of Ukraine in specialities and educational programs at the University;

participates in the advanced training of military personnel, employees of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and officials of other components of the security and defence forces of Ukraine and civil servants in the field of activity of the Department;

participates in conducting courses for officers of the joint staffs of the operational level L-3;

participates in conducting advanced training and professional-level courses in the field of activity of the Department.

The department, in accordance with the tasks assigned to it, performs the following functions:

carries out educational, methodological, scientific, scientific-technical, and innovative activities;

provides conditions for obtaining full higher education by military specialists of structural units of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and other executive bodies involved in performing tasks in the interests of national security and defence in peacetime and during special periods;

improves the content of students' training, taking into account changes in the structure of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the nature and conditions for performing the tasks assigned to them, and the experience of using troops in international peace and security operations, local wars, and armed conflicts;

ensures the improvement of the qualifications and professional level of scientific and scientific-pedagogical employees;

conducts scientific research on current problems related to the development of the basic principles of the theory of development of unmanned and robotic systems in the Armed Forces of Ukraine;

educates students in the qualities of a commander-leader in the best traditions of the Ukrainian army, Ukrainian Cossacks, officers of previous generations and the cultural heritage of the Ukrainian people; high patriotism and devotion to military affairs and service to the Ukrainian people; and ensures their physical, cultural and spiritual development;

implements the results of scientific research on unmanned and robotic systems and innovative methods of training military specialists for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, into the educational process;

implements NATO military decision-making standards and procedures (MDMP, OPP) into the educational process;

organises and supervises training sessions;

conducts individual training of scientific and pedagogical workers (permanent officers);

participates in the organisation and conduct of educational, methodological and operational meetings of the management and scientific and scientific-pedagogical staff;

takes measures to maintain the material and technical base of the department at a high level and to constantly improve it;

ensures the implementation of measures to prevent and combat corruption;

participates in the development and implementation of expert reviews of draft laws of Ukraine, acts of the President of Ukraine and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, international treaties, orders of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, which fall within the competence of the department;

ensures, within its powers, the implementation of measures to transfer the university to functioning in the conditions of a special period;

carries out activities related to the protection of state secrets, develops documents regarding the transfer of the department to functioning in a special period and carries out relevant measures within the institute;

analyses, within its competence, the state of the educational process and develops proposals for its improvement;

provides advisory and practical assistance to the heads of the university's structural divisions in resolving issues within its competence;

prepares information, reference and analytical materials;

performs other functions as assigned.

Scientific potential of the department:

The scientific and pedagogical staff of the department have a degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Candidate of Sciences) and the academic title of Associate Professor.

The scientific and pedagogical staff of the department trains scientific and pedagogical personnel (Doctor of Philosophy) for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The scientific and pedagogical staff of the department participate in the implementation of scientific and research work on the application, management, and support of unmanned systems.
