At the 1st of June 2003 in Order of Chief of National Defense Academy of Ukraine was created a Department of Airborne Troops.
From the 1st of March 2010 Department of Airborne Troops was reformed to Department of Airborne Troops and Special Operations Forces.
From the 1st of December 2014 Department of Airborne Troops and Special Operations Forces was renamed to Department of Highly Mobile Airborne Troops and Special Operations Forces.
Department of Highly Mobile Airborne Troops and Special Operations Forces is main structural unit of Staff and Command Institute of National Defense University of Ukraine named after Ivan Cherniachovsky.
The Department includes:
- Department management unit;
- Scientific and teaching stuff;
- Scientific and research laboratory.
Main tasks of Department of Highly Mobile Airborne Troops and Special Operations Forces:
- Participation in Master educational qualification level military training for Air Assault Forces and Special Operations Forces of Armed Forces of Ukraine;
- Participation in Operational tactical and Operational strategic level military training by certain specialties and specializations for Armed Forces of Ukraine, other state military formations, participation in training and retraining;
- Provision of Scientific, Scientific and teaching personnel military training for Armed Forces of Ukraine, other state military formations;
- Creature (improvement) regulatory and education material framework for provision of educational activities;
- Provision of cultural and spiritual personality development, education of personnel in the spirit of the patriotism and respect for the constitution of Ukraine.
All Teachers of Department have combat experience of participation in Operations of Joint Forces (ATO), Peacekeeping Operations and other armed conflicts outside the Ukraine.
