«Strategic communications are an effective tool for achieving the stateʼs goals through public diplomacy, public relations, military relations, information and psychological operations, this is our coordinated and synchronized communication response to information threats, which is especially important in the context of direct military aggression by the Russian Federation against Ukraine.».

The Strategic Communications Institute of the National Defence University of Ukraine is headed by The Chief of the Institute, Ph. D., Docent, Colonel Oleksandr Voitko.

The Strategic Communications Institute was established in September 2023 on the basis of the Training and Research Center for Strategic Communications in the field of national security and defence.

The prerequisites for the establishment of the Institute are the transformation of the military education system to ensure the training of highly professional specialists in the field of strategic communications for the Security and Defense Sector of Ukraine, research on the development, generalization of experience and implementation of strategic communications innovations in the field of national security and defence.

The main tasks of the Institute are:

  • Training of officers at the Master’s operational level of higher education and majoring in: Organization of Moral and Psychological Support for Troops (Forces), Organization of Law Enforcement in the Armed Forces, Organization of Legal Support for Troops (Forces), Information Security Management in the Armed Forces;
  • Training of officers at the Senior Management Course (Strategic level L-4);
  • Training of officers at the Joint Staff Officer Course (Operational level L-3);
  • Cooperation with international research and analytical institutions and organizations that implement training and research on issues of strategic communication and information security;
  • Implementation of scientific and technical activities and training of military postgraduate students;
  • Development and improvement of educational and methodological support and training equipment and stores to ensure educational and scientific activities in the field of strategic communication.
